The most anticipated fashion show of the year – the 8th annual Dep Fashion Show (organized by Dep magazine, Le Media and LeBros.)– previously took place in HCM City on September 26. Entitled “Freedom,” the show not only highlighted the designers’ personality and creativity, but also unveiled new elements.
The venue for DSF8 surprised many since it was a steel structure in HCMC’s District 4. Steel and fashion have no relationship, but through the hands of stage designer Le Duy Hung, the steel structure was transformed into a space for fashion to soar. Not stopping there, Dep Fashion Show 8 included performance art which requires models to convey the theme, ‘Freedom’ to the audience by use of their body language, while the backdrops changed frequently keeping everything fresh.
Featured in Dep Fashion Show 8 were 4 carefully selected young designers: Do Manh Cuong brought his latest collection ‘Like a Bird’. Le Ha’s ‘Women’ featured unisex style. Ha Truong’s ‘As I Am’ intoduced rule-breaking street styles. Tom K Nguyen’s ‘Beyond the Limit’ stuck to the simple and the classics.
For seven years, Dep Fashion Show has proved its prestige in content and in creative ideas to audiences who love fashion and to industry experts. With Dep Fashion Show 8, the organizers were aiming to create a high-level playground for Vietnamese designers to introduce new trends in fashion, honor Vietnam’s fashion industry and commercialize local brands.
Famous models such as Ngoc Quyen (Co Le Nao Ta Yeu Nhau/Maybe We Love Each Other), Vinh Thuy (Nhat Ky Bach Tuyet/Snow White’s Diary), Thuy Vinh (co president of Music Box Ent.–Ngo Kien Huy‘s agency), Phi Thanh Van (Co Gai Xau Xi/Ugly Girl), Tien Doan (winner of Mr. International 08), Ha Anh (international supermodel) etc.
