How to Find Shoes That Go Well With Shorts

Wearing shoes with shorts can be tricky. Shoes have a tendency to "stand out" in a way with shorts that they don't when you wear them with pants or with a full-length skirt or gown. In addition, because of the casualness of shorts, shoes have a tendency to "stand out" if they don't match in terms of style. In this article, I will discuss how to find shoes that look good with shorts by not overwhelming them.

Appropriateness

The first thing to ensure when putting shoes with shorts is that the shoes themselves have not been designed only to look good with pants or a full-length skirt or gown. In general, you want shoes that look "light." That is, you want shoes that don't stand out in the face of your now-bare legs.

The easiest way to do this is to use an open-toed shoe. Because they don't cover your entire feet, open-toed shoes are not nearly as heavy as other shoe types when worn. Sandals are a good choice, because they are designed for hot weather as well. Another choice is to wear a shoe that doesn't stand out because of its material. So, in general, you should avoid leather shoes when wearing shorts, as they will ultimately appear much heavier.

Style

Because shorts are an inherently casual type of clothing, you also want to make sure that your shoes are very casual. Shoes such as running shoes, for example, provide an excellent compliment to shorts, as they are also the most casual form of shoe available. Casual walking shoes (though not leather ones) will also make a nice complement to your shorts, as they won't be more dressy.

Another thing that will help your casual shoes blend well with your shorts is to make them of the same color and/or fabric as the shorts themselves. So, if your shorts are a light blue, light blue shoes will blend in nicely. If you want, you can also make your shoes match your shirt instead of your shorts. Anything you do that makes your shoes less noticeable will suffice.

Shoes can be worn with casual shoes. There are just a series of things you need to take care of to make sure they don't stand out.
