A large crowd gathered outside the National Culture Hall in Vientiane on Wednesday evening to watch models strut their stuff on the catwalk and enjoy some entertainment by Lao artists.

The show was organised by the Vietnamese Viettien Garment Export-Import Corporation (VTEC) and its Lao sales agency Dok Champa Import-Export Company.

General Director of Viettien Garment Corperation, Mr Bui Van Tien, said the fashion show was held to celebrate the availability of Viettien fashion items in Laos.

“We’re pleased to host the event to celebrate our opening in Laos and, more importantly, strengthen the good relationship between Laos and Vietnam.”

He said Viettien is now the leading fashion house in Vietnam.

Mr Bui Van Tien said Viettien clothing products of differing quality are now available in Laos, including low-cost products with the Viet Long brand name, and medium-class products with the Viet Tien and Viet Tien Smart Casual brand names. The most expensive products will bear the brand names of Sanciaro and Manhattan.

“These products offer modern styles at reasonable prices,” he said.

Mr Bui Van Tien expects the company’s products to be popular with Lao consumers looking to dress in style.

Viettien and Sansciaro produce khaki trousers, shirts, jackets, cravats, and neckties aimed at businessmen with high incomes.

Mr Bui Van Tien said, two years ago, the fashion company opened in Cambodia, but was forced to close due to management problems. They recommenced operations early this month and response so far has been good.

Lao bands Over Dance, Lao Bangfai, and Nalin performed for the audience at the event.

The Viet Tien Garment Company is a member of the Vietnam Textile and Garment Corporation and is the largest garment company in Vietnam. Its products are exported to many countries around the world.

The well-reputed Viettien trademark has won the confidence of Vietnamese consumers.

After 30 years, the company has developed in both business size and economic efficiency.

To date, Viettien is running 34 production and business units in Ho Chi Minh City and several provinces and cities in the country.

Lao Vice President Bounnhang Vorachit, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos T’Minh Chau, and high ranking officials from both nations attended the event.
